If your waking up in the morning is followed by a long session of alarm-snoozing, then chances are high that you eat deeply into the time you are supposed to be using for sleep. Like you know, it is advised that you get at least seven hours of uninterrupted sleep during the night in order to start the new day refreshed.
However, most people do not do this and wake up feeling groggy and wanting that extra ten minutes of sleep; hitting the snooze button. For others, they get the sleep but still wake up tired. This is possible too as getting enough sleep is not the only thing that has an impact on your energy level.
Take this for an example: Why do we feel more energized after a workout routine which is subsequently followed up by taking a cold shower? - The answer is pretty simple. You charge your body after a workout.
It is more about how you prep your body for a new day. here are a few things you can incorporate into your day.
1. Cut down your to-do list
To keep your tasks in hand and make sure nothing is forgotten, a lot of us now draw up to-do lists and follow them. To-do lists are helpful in visualizing and planning the up to-do lists and follow them. To-do lists are helpful in visualizing and planning the entire day beforehand. When used precisely, these can be a major productivity booster.
However, this is not the case if you insert too many tasks into your daily to-do lists. It is better to get a handful of tasks done than to drown yourself in work. Apart from the physical strain, there is also the mental strain of feeling that a task is not yet done.
Therefore, you need to wisely pick the tasks (and also prioritize them) before writing your to-do list. This will let you maximize your time without overburdening yourself. A heavy to do list is counter-productive.
2. Allocate more work pre-lunch
How to do this effectively?
The solution is pretty simple. All you need to do is to cut your to-do list into halves. In the first half, include the high priority tasks. With less and lower prioritized work left in the second half, you will tend to feel lesser burdened and thus more relaxed.
3. Create an expiry tag
One of the greatest hacks to leading an energized life is by creating an expiry tag.
This is simply a checkpoint of the day or the last task in your to-do list. It is very important you feel you have had a productive day or else you would lose the urge to push yourself to work harder the next day. Creating an expiry tag ensures that your body and mind are well balanced throughout the day.
For example, the expiry tag could be sending important work-related emails to all your colleagues. When you are done sending, you can call it a day.
This way, you are mentally able to switch off when you have carried out that task you have designated as the expiry tag.
4. Drink fruit-infused water
How about giving back to the body throughout the day? With fruit-infused water, you are better able to replenish lost moisture and energy throughout the day. Not only is fruit-induced water a great alternative to unflavored water, it also does give your body the right amount of useful vitamins it needs throughout the day.
Believe it or not but your body actually needs a little pampering all day long. If you know how to balance it well with healthy liquids, it is going to keep your body and mind energized.
Ingredients for fruit-infused water:
1. One sliced orange
2. Sliced strawberries/watermelon
3.5-10 mint leaves
4. Water
Mix well & refrigerate overnight.
5. Switch from power naps to walking outside:
Power naps aren't for everybody. Some people actually feel drowsy after waking up.
Instead, go for a light walk outdoors. If you have a little park or a garden around your workplace, go there. You can also choose to move around & stretch your body a little in the restroom of your workplace.
6. Try these bonus hacks too:
1. Cut down the usage of social media right after waking up.
2. Meditate for 20 minutes in the morning.
3. Time your meals.
4. Have ' music' breaks every now and then.
